Ray is the founder of Apollo Private Wealth, a financial advice practice that prioritises the needs of clients above all else.  With over 18 years of experience providing comprehensive and holistic advice on complex matters, Ray is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) with a Masters in Financial Planning and Bachelor of Business.  While working in large institutions, Ray noticed that the usual financial planning process was often backward and didn’t provide clients with the certainty they were looking for.  This inspired him to start Apollo Private Wealth, where he could do things differently and give clients a clear picture of how to manage their wealth and reach their financial and lifestyle goals.

Our Story

With offices in Brisbane and Canberra, Apollo Private Wealth is a financial advisory firm that provides financial planning and wealth management services to their clients. Our main focus is guiding people towards achieving their ideal financial and lifestyle goals.  At Apollo, we specialise in providing advice to professionals, executives, business owners and high net worth individuals.  Our team is led by highly skilled advisers who each have a minimum of 15 years experience working with clients through challenging periods, including the Global Financial Crisis.

When developing and implementing your financial plan, we don’t believe in taking a ‘cookie cutter’ approach.  Our proven processes are customised so you and your family can enjoy life.

Shane O'Grady

Shane is an award winning financial planner who has spent 18 years helping his clients achieve their financial goals.  He is passionate about providing high quality advice and personally tailored solutions to his clients.

Shane completed an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning and went on to obtain the highest qualification in Financial Planning by becoming a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) in 2009.  By getting to know his clients on a personal level, Shane has become skilled at developing solutions that provide his clients with the best opportunity to reach their specific financial goals.

Outside of work, Shane enjoys spending time with family, he loves travelling and is passionate about kayaking, bush walking and mountain bike riding.

Claire Watson

Claire is our operational superstar!  With over 15 years’ experience in the industry and a Diploma of Financial Planning, Claire was a natural fit to take up the role of Operational Manager at Apollo.

Having worked in both major financial institutions and boutique practices, Claire enjoys working in an environment that gives her the ability to get to know each client, while making sure the whole process runs smoothly.  In her spare time, Claire enjoys spending time with her family and is a proud mother to two busy boys.

Chris Stone

Chris joined Apollo as a Client Service Officer, after working for one of Australia’s largest Superannuation funds. While completing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration he found a passion for finance. Chris is committed to building a career in the industry and is currently working towards completing a Master’s degree in Financial Planning.

He is a massive sports fan, who loves his cricket.

Daniel Harris

Dedicated to delivering exceptional client service, Daniel seamlessly transitioned into his role as a Client Service Officer, drawing from a wealth of experience gained in the financial advice sector.  Currently pursing a Dual Bachelor’s degree in Science and Psychology, Daniel has cultivated a profound passion for Financial Planning.  His commitment to the field stems from witnessing the transformative impact that high-quality advice and service have on the firm’s clientele.

Bolstered by a wealth of knowledge in Self-Managed Super Funds and influenced by his parents’ background in accounting and mathematics, Daniel brings forth a multifaceted skill set and an unyielding commitment to personal and professional advancement.

Outside the office, Daniel enjoys exploring the vibrant landscapes of Brisbane and savouring the culinary delights offered by local restaurants during his downtime.

Sonja, a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) who recently embarked on a well-deserved retirement journey in January 2024, capping an illustrious 30-year career in the financial services industry.

Throughout her tenure, Sonja demonstrated a unique and unwavering commitment to her clients, empowering them to confidently navigate crucial decisions regarding their financial futures.

Despite officially retiring, Sonja’s journey is far from over.  Between jet-setting for international travel and immersing herself in the art of learning French, she continues to play an essential role in the back office, ensuring a seamless transition for her clients.

We’ll collect all relevant financial data and documents from you to create a detailed picture of your financial situation.  Our team of expert financial planners will then analyse the data and develop a personalised financial plan that’s tailored to your unique needs and goals.

Financial Modeling

Our team will then create a comprehensive financial plan that includes recommendations for achieving your goals.  We’ll provide advice on investment strategies, insurance options, tax planning strategies, and estate planning recommendations that will help you achieve your financial objectives.

Advice Presentation

We’ll present our recommendations to you and explain the rationale behind each recommendation.  We’ll make sure that you understand every aspect of the plan and answer any questions you may have.

Implementation

Once you agree to move forward with the financial plan, we’ll work with you to implement the recommended strategies.  We’ll help you open new investment accounts, purchase insurance policies, update estate planning documents, and make other changes to your financial situation as necessary.

Progress reports and updates

We’ll regularly monitor your progress and review your financial plan to ensure that it remains aligned with your goals and objectives.  We’ll make adjustments to the plan as needed based on changes in your circumstances or market conditions.

The next step is a letter of engagement with a statement of advice, which recommends relevant strategies that could benefit you and outlines the fees associated with our initial and ongoing relationship. If you decide to implement these strategies, you will be charged an initial advice fee.
